Ashe County Schools
The Ashe County School System consists of three elementary
schools, one middle school and one high school. Each Ashe County
NC school has a devoted staff of knowledgeable administrators,
teachers and other school support that strive to promote and
maintain excellence and success for every student. Students in
Ashe County receive a well rounded education in which they are
prepared to live in our ever-changing, diverse world. If you are

 Most of Ashe County's schools are housed in newly constructed
facilities and Ashe County's new high school is located on a
sprawling campus in West Jefferson. All of the Ashe County NC
Schools have phenomenal academic programs that prepare students
for college as well as preliminary vocational careers.
Early in the Ashe County NC School's curriculum students are
encouraged to pay attention to and explore their specific,
unique interests and members and businesses in the community
routinely volunteer their time and resources to promoting the
student's overall development.
Appalachian State University, Boone's extension of Caldwell
Community College, and Wilkes Community College are all a short
drive away and students often receive opportunities to take part
in programs and service learning experiences that help them go
on to college and pursue various endeavors. Many Ashe County
high school graduates go on to distinguished college's and
universities in other parts of the state, like UNC-Chapel Hill,
Duke and Wake Forest.
